A big thank you for the solution listed here. I just had the same issue, provisioned cURL for the PHP 8.3 that I am running the J5 site on, and it's saved the day.
Something I have felt would be really handy is to have a comprehensive list of PHP modules that should be enabled on the server for correct functioning of Joomla sites. Some years ago I had a good look for such a thing but never found it.
